The 2023 Rising Edge Challenge Cup: football, fun and friendship

To celebrate Rising Edge’s second anniversary Thursday May 4th 2023 saw two invitation teams of footballers from across the London insurance market battle it out at Champion Hill, home of Dulwich Hamlet FC.

Rising Edge’s ‘Home’ team, the Market Sharks, played in Dulwich’s traditional pink and blue and were managed by Hamlet striker Danny Mills. Opposition was provided by the Broker Bulls managed by Hamlet women’s team manager Ryan Dempsey and Hamlet legend Sanchez Ming.

The Bulls charged out to a two goal early lead by the first break but were pegged back by a resurgent Sharks team which scored four goals, including one worldie from the half-way line. As you’d expect from bullish brokers, the away team came back, levelling the score at 4-4. and with the game was finely balanced and heading for penalties the Sharks scored the decider and the victory was with the market.

The afternoon was a wonderful feast of football, excellent food and fine wine with some 150+ guests attending the match and social in the club house afterwards.

Thank you to everyone who came along, both players and supporters, you made our 2nd birthday special. We are privileged to know so many wonderful people across our industry and look forward to seeing you all again at next years’ Challenge Cup.
